Day one of the 2014 Blowsion Surf Slam kicked off in mega fashion with some very surprisingly comfortable summer-like weather and small but clean surf on the Tierra Del Mar beach in Pacific City, Oregon. Pre-qualifying got underway between amateur and pro free riders alike, giving a preview for the tournament-style action of the weekend. Some stand out riders included pro free riders Mark Gomez and Taylor Curtis, debuting the new Rickter Edge free ride hull during a head-to-head pre-qualiftying round. Riders like “Airing” Darin Anderson, Australia’s Brodie Copp, South African riders Jake Montadon and Jeremy Phillips also gave the spectators a great ring side show of things to come. Danielle Lawlor, out of California, sister of the world famous “Lawlor Bros” nailed her first free ride backflip in her Amateur Freeride qualifier with the whole free ride community celebrating her triumph. Stay tuned for more results as the Amateur Freeride finals, Pro qualifying and Motosurf Racing will be underway! A special thanks goes out to Blowsion and event supporter and vendors.
