| LAKE CHARLES, La. (April 16, 2013)-Contraband Days, Louisiana Pirate Festival is introducing a new event the first weekend of the festival, Saturday-Sunday, May 4-5: Contraband Days Spike and Splash at I-10 North Beach. It combines the EVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour and the Hydro-Turf Watercross National Tour. Southwest Louisiana will be the first stop to kick off their 2013 season and is the only visit in the entire state. The tour features the world's best and fastest professional athletes as well as a contingent of up-and-coming men and women in the highly explosive and exciting sport of personal watercraft racing otherwise known as "watercross." These riders will utilize some of the most advanced equipment and technology to help their watercraft reach speeds of over 80 miles-per-hour. Thousands of racing enthusiasts will be on hand to catch the excitement. At each event, spectators will see athletes compete for top honors, and also have the chance to interact with the pros by participating in contests and promotions. The watercross racing will take place Saturday, May 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sunday, May 5, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The beach volleyball tournament will occur Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The volleyball tournament and Jet Ski competition will be nationally televised on the Beach Sports Network.  2013 Hydro-Turf National Tour Purse Premier classes have a guaranteed purse to be awarded at each round of the tour, based on the above purse schedule. These classes are: Pro-Am Ski GP, Pro-Am Runabout Open, Pro Freestyle. Tour purse classes with 5 or more competitors on the line will receive the guaranteed tour purse or 50% of the line contingency, whichever is greater. Classes with 3 or 4 riders on the line the payout is 25% of the line, the purse awarded to the class winner. Classes with less than 3 competitors on the line will receive no payout. These classes are: Pro-Am Ski Stock, Pro-Am Runabout Stock, Pro-Am Runabout Limited*. In the event that the Pro-Am Runabout Limited class contingency is greater than the purse, than the contingency will be paid in its place. Contingency classes: Expert and Pro-Am classes that do not receive purse money will receive the standard 50% of the line contingency. Those classes with 5 or more competitors will receive full contingency. Classes with 3 or 4 riders on the line the payout is 25% of the line, purse awarded to the class winner. Classes with less than 3 competitors on the line will receive no payout. |
